Striper Fishing Six Mile March 2017

Loaded up the boat Wednesday morning and headed to the lake. I left the house at about 7:15 AM and picked up my buddy Jim. From our meeting place, we went to Hammond's and got a dozen Bluebacks and a dozen shiners ( in case we went after Crappie).

We put in at Charleston Park and headed up to Six Mile.  We fished there for an hour or so and caught several Black Bass and a Striper. When the bite fell off, we decided to run up to Vann's Tavern (about 6 miles or so) to see if there was any activity there.
I had never been to that area of the lake so at first we passed it up and ended up near Pelican Pete's.             We got our bearings and came back to Vann's Tavern. One other boat was trolling the area so we put in baits and trolled a little ways back towards Six Mile.

Nothing, so we packed up and went back to Six mile and trolled it one more time. While we were there we ran into another L.A.K.E guy out fishing from his kayak. We chatted a few minutes and headed back towards the ramp.

Overall it was a pretty good day of fishing.

Maggie Tournament 2017

I had great time fishing the Team Maggie Tournament again this year. My buddy came in from NC to do it with me. We pre-fished a couple days then hit the lake on Saturday AM for the tournament.

>>>>>Click Here For Details<<<<< on Team Maggie and what they are all about.

Thursday we put in at Little Hall and worked our way down to the dam and East Bank hitting various spots along the way. We only managed to catch some sun but it was a beautiful day to be on the water.

Little Hall Ramp

Friday I had some stuff I had to take care of in the morning so we made it out around 12:30 or so. It turns out it was too windy to fish anyway. We put in at East Bank and just made it out to the deep water and the chop was just too bad to bother so we messed around in the cove then took out.

Saturday we made the bait shop by 6 then headed to East Bank again. The wind was calm and the water was flat. We hit our first spot and set up all of the baits to troll. We immediately got a strike and landed a fish... only 24.5 but a promising start.

My Buddy Steve

After trolling the area for a while, with only one take down (missed), we decided to move over to the dam. Nothing on the finder there so we headed north up to Six Mile stopping once on the way to try a spot birds were hanging out. We trolled Six Mile without any luck so headed further North. We tried chasing birds and trolling whee we would see them but we just could not get anything to bite.

Trees or Fish??

We trolled the last stretch to the check in at Little Hall and gave up.

We did not check in our fish as it was a two fish total and we knew we did not have a chance. If we would have checked in we would have been around 30th.

Cant wait to do this great event again next year.
