Striper Hunting 6.16.2016

I got the boat together and headed out to meet Jim (packman from LAKE) to try to catch some Stripers. WE met at Buford Dam Bait & Tackle at about 5:30 AM. Some Bluebacks and large Shiners and we set off for East bank on Lanier.

We eased around the area making fish. Once we had a pattern to follow we set up rods and started trolling.  If I remember correctly we had two outer rods on planer boards. Next in we had 2 down lines. and in the middle 2 on corks.

After a few passes a down line started peeling drag and Jim ended this nice 35.5 inch Striper. It gave him a pretty good fight. It was released to fight another day.

A little later he got a decent Catfish. We did not photograph or keep it. Does it still count? LOL  Last fish of the day was my decent Black Bass (Spot). I did not put up much of a fight but had a good size.

We decided the  troll bite was done around noon and moved to another area over some trees and tried some spoons. All we caught were stick fish that fought as good if not better than the days previous catch! HA! I did not get a chance to use my new Ben Parker spoons this time out but I had them ready!

We decided to call it a day and head in.

About 5 miles from home my truck bit the dust and I spent the next 5.5 hours waiting on help that never showed. So much for roadside assistance LOL  .. My girlfriend picked up a battery and brought it out so I could limp home. I'm pretty sure it's the alternator. I have one on the way.

Pic for effect!

From when I put stainless brake lines on.

Over all it was an awesome day of fishing!
